Home record makes Heracles a decent bet to thwart Sparta Rotterdam

Consistent home performances are keeping Heracles away from the Eredivisie relegation scrap and further success is on the cards for John Stegeman's side when they host struggling Sparta Rotterdam at Polman Stadion.

Heracles have had a tough start to the month, losing at Willem II (3-1) and AZ Alkmaar (5-0), but they often perform better on home soil.

They have collected 17 of their 18 points in home fixtures and were shock 2-1 winners against Ajax in their first match of the campaign.

Recent setbacks have seen Stegeman's side drop into the bottom half but they have a five-point cushion to the bottom three and a seven-point advantage over second-bottom Sparta, who have won just two of 15 league games this season.

Sparta's problems are largely down to their struggles in front of goal. They are the lowest scorers in the top flight with 11 goals and have failed to scored in four of their last six away games.

On-loan Zulte-Waregem striker Robert Muhren leads their scoring charts with three goals but there has been little impact made by summer signing Nick Proschwitz, who has made just three appearances and scored once.

Heracles have a far more potent attack and it should win them the game.

Attacking midfielder Reuven Niemeijer is impressing, scoring three goals in his last five games, and Curacao international attacker Brandley Kuwas is joint-fifth in the Eredivisie assists table with five in just 12 appearances.

They have had their problems at the back, shipping 31 goals in 15 league matches, but are usually much more solid in home games and have nothing to fear from the worst attack in the division.
