Home advantage can see Freiburg come up trumps

Freiburg came from three goals down to pour more misery on rock-bottom Cologne on Sunday and Christian Streich’s troops should have little to fear against a generous Borussia Monchengladbach.

A brace from towering frontman Nils Petersen completed the remarkable comeback that saw Freiburg stretch their unbeaten league run to three games with a 4-3 triumph.

And the return to the Schwarzwald-Stadion could see an improved effort from Freiburg.

The hosts have lost just one of their last 12 league games on their own patch. A 1-0 defeat to Schalke was their only slip-up.

The quick turnaround isn’t ideal for Freiburg but they have defeated Hoffenheim and Mainz on home soil and held free-scoring Dortmund to a goalless draw.

Monchengladbach began the week 12 places higher than Freiburg in fourth but they have shipped 12 goals in their last five road games. A 3-0 hammering at Wolfsburg last time out shows how vulnerable they can be on their travels.
