Sunday preview

Paris Saint-Germain v Monaco

BT Sport 1, 8pm Sunday

Roberto Moreno has been in his first official head coach role for only two weeks yet faces the daunting prospect of back-to-back games with French juggernauts Paris Saint-Germain.

The former assistant to Luis Enrique replaced Leonardo Jardim as Monaco boss at the end of last year and, despite his inexperience, there were positive signs in his first game against Reims, which they won 2-1.

A pacy front three of Keita Balde, Gelson Martins and Wissam Ben Yedder promises exciting football, as does Moreno's Barcelona school influence, and the principality club can get on the scoresheet.

PSG have won eight of their nine home league fixtures - destroying St-Etienne 6-1 in the Coupe de la Ligue most recently - and should claim maximum points but a Monaco side who thumped Lille 5-1 can cause them problems.

Roma v Juventus

Premier 1, 7.45pm Sunday

It took longer than many anticipated but Cristiano Ronaldo netted his first Serie A hat-trick as Juventus thumped Cagliari 4-0 in their opening game of 2020 and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner can help the Old Lady to victory against Roma.

The capital club have won four of their last five games in the league but, barring Inter Milan, they have not really faced opposition who could capitalise on their long list of absentees.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan's return was delayed by a knock sustained in training while Justin Kluivert, Javier Pastore, Davide Santon, Bryan Cristante and Davide Zappacosta are all sidelined.

Juve have won 14 of their 18 matches, losing only once all season, and a potential front three of Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Ronaldo could rip Roma apart.

Hellas Verona v Genoa

Premier 1, 5pm Sunday

Many had Hellas Verona down as prime relegation candidates at the start of the season but Ivan Juric's side have established a solid mid-table position and they could be a value bet against lowly Genoa.

The hosts saw off strugglers Spal last time out after tight contests with Atalanta (2-3) and Torino (3-3) and boast experience in players such as Giampaolo Pazzini, Miguel Veloso and Darko Lazovic, who give them the edge against bottom-half opposition.

Thiago Motta flopped in his first stab at football management at Genoa, who have put Davide Nicola in the hotseat and are desperately short of points, winning only three of their 18 league contests this campaign.

St-Etienne v Nantes

BT Sport 1, 2pm Sunday

Nantes have been the kings of the 1-0 win this season - prevailing by that scoreline seven times in the league - and they know how to grind out results against stronger opposition.

The visitors are fifth in the Ligue 1 standings despite scoring only 17 goals in 19 league matches and St-Etienne could be in for a frustrating afternoon.

Les Verts are badly out of form, crashing out of the Coupe de la Ligue and Europa League and languishing in the bottom half of the Ligue 1 standings.
