Weekend preview
Augsburg v Hertha Berlin
BT Sport 3, 2.30pm Sunday
The absence of Alfred Finnbogason, who has been ruled out until next year with a shoulder concern, is showing at shot-shy Augsburg, who claimed only their second league win of the campaign before the international break.
That success came against basement boys Paderborn and they took the spoils courtesy of a Philipp Max free-kick in a match in which they were arguably outplayed.
Visitors Hertha are suffering a downturn in form but are a cut above their Bavarian opponents and Ante Covic has a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Defender Niklas Stark's inclusion in the German national team recently is testament to the team's fine defensive workrate and they should have enough to trouble Augsburg on the break with Dodi Lukebakio and Javairo Dilrosun, who have three Bundesliga goals each this term.
Hoffenheim v Mainz
BT Sport 1, 5pm Sunday
There has been growing support among punters for in-form Hoffenheim this weekend and Alfred Schreuder's men can justify odds-on quotes at the Rhein-Neckar Arena.
They have won their last six matches in all competitions, slaying Bayern Munich and Schalke along the way.
They will be sweating over the fitness of goalscorers Andrej Kramaric and Sargis Adamyan but even in their absence, they should have enough to edge Mainz, who lost 8-0 at Leipzig in their last home league game.
Villarreal v Celta Vigo
Premier 2, 5.30pm Sunday
Three Villarreal players netted in Spain's 7-0 dismantling of Malta during the international break and Gerard Moreno, Santi Cazorla and Pau Torres should help their club side to victory against lowly Celta Vigo.
With their 26 goals second only to Barcelona's 33 in La Liga's scoring charts, Villarreal have few concerns in the final third but they are struggling for consistency at the back, losing to Eibar and Mallorca in recent weeks.
Those defeats can be attributed to complacency, which should be no problem in this weekend's fixture, which they will be desperate to win to arrest their slide in form.
Vigo should not cause their fragile defence many problems either, with no side in the division having scored fewer than their seven league goals in 2019-20.
Toulouse v Marseille
BT Sport 1, 8pm Sunday
Marseille have come through a tough run in Ligue 1 relatively unscathed, seeing off Lille and Lyon 2-1 in their last two encounters.
They held on against Les Gones most recently with only ten men and Toulouse, who have won only three of their 13 league fixtures, should represent a drop in standard.
The hosts have the worst defensive record in the division, shipping 25 goals, and that should ease concerns for Marseille fans worried about their defensive deficiencies.
Alvaro Gonzalez, Duje Caleta-Car and Jordan Amavi are all suspended but youngsters Lucas Perrin and Boubacar Kamara can plug the gap and Marseille's superiority in attack should still show.
