Weekend preview

Paderborn v Eintracht Frankfurt

BT Sport 3, 5pm Sunday

These sides lock horns at the Benteler Arena in the final Bundesliga match before the winter break and Paderborn could end the year at the foot of the table.

The exodus of key players in the summer is beginning to tell for Adi Hutter's men, who are "mentally and physically tired" according to their manager. But the Europa League group stage is behind them and they will not need to be at their sharpest to see off strugglers Paderborn.

The hosts have won only two of their 16 league assignments and could themselves be fatigued after a challenging set of recent fixtures featuring Borussia Dortmund, Leipzig and Borussia Monchengladbach.

Real Betis v Atletico Madrid

Premier 2, 3pm Sunday

Atletico Madrid's streak of three successive clean sheets could be snapped away to a Real Betis unit renowned for playing on the front foot.

The home side's summer recruitment included the additions of Nabil Fekir and Borja Iglesias, who have both been in the goals, as well as veteran Joaquin, who struck a 20-minute hat-trick against Athletic Bilbao.

A tally of 29 goals conceded has held back the Andalusian outfit, whose attacking approach could force Atletico to come out of their shell and their forward duo Joao Felix and Alvaro Morata are capable of contributing to a high-scoring affair.

Parma v Brescia

Premier 1, 2pm Sunday

Parma, among the Serie A surprise packages this season, are still in touching distance of the European places and can assert their superiority against lowly Brescia.

Loanee forward Dejan Kulusevski is allegedly on the radar of the likes of Inter Milan and Manchester United, while Gervinho has a new-found confidence in the final third.

Couple that attacking prowess with an organised rearguard under Roberto D'Aversa and Parma look too strong for the Lombardy side, who have lost four of their last six matches without scoring.

Atalanta v AC Milan

Premier 1, 11.30am Sunday

Atalanta were stunned in a 2-1 defeat to Bologna last time out but that loss should ensure complacency does not slip in for their clash with sleeping giants AC Milan.

Serie A's attacking juggernauts defied expectations to sneak through to the last 16 of the Champions League and successive home matches in the league present them with the opportunity to climb back into the top four.

Luis Muriel has spearheaded their attack with nine league strikes and the visitors, who have scored more than one goal only once in their last eight assignments, could learn a lesson or two from their Bergamo counterparts.
