Feyenoord to clinch Dutch title in style at rivals Excelsior

Feyenoord have topped the Eredivisie charts since the opening weekend of the season and the Rotterdam outfit can complete their all-the-way success by being crowned champions with victory at local rivals Excelsior.

A 5-0 demolition of Groningen in their curtain-raiser laid the foundations for a triumphant campaign and a run of nine consecutive wins in the opening months of the season provided them with a commanding lead in the title race.

Ajax and PSV have fought hard to bridge the gap but Feyenoord have so much class in their ranks that giving their experienced side such an advantage was always going to be critical.

The league leaders are much better on home soil - unbeaten since January last year - but they are capable on their travels and should punish an Excelsior side who have kept just two home clean sheets this term.

The hosts have lost only one of their last seven games but with their Eredivisie status confirmed, their season could well fade away.

Feyenoord have hit their Rotterdam rivals for four twice already this term and their free-scoring frontline should be supported to have another fruitful day at the Stadion Woudestein.

Leading marksman Nicolai Jorgensen - 21 league goals and 11 assists this term - has grabbed most of the headlines but Jens Toornstra, who has notched 14 times from midfield, has been the unsung hero.

The 28-year-old has found the net four times in as many matches and could trigger some value for first goalscorer backers.
