Alex Beach
The club pro from Baltusrol has almost no hope of success. The top 20 finishers at the PGA Pro National Championship qualify for the USPGA.

Rich Beem
The Sky Sports presenter won the USPGA in 2002 and is playing in the event for the 16th time at the age of 46.

Rich Berberian
The PGA Pro National qualifier, like the other 19, will just be hoping to play four rounds and pick up any sort of cheque.

Daniel Berger
The cocksure Floridian youngster successfully defended his St Jude Classic title in June before losing a playoff to Jordan Spieth in the Travelers Championship. Has USPGA form of MC-73 and has never made an impact at Quail Hollow in the Wells Fargo Championship.

Thomas Bjorn
The injury-prone 46-year-old Dane has not won a tournament since 2013 and is concentrating on his Ryder Cup captaincy.

Jonas Blixt
The Swede finished fourth on his USPGA debut in 2013, then second in the Masters the following year. Has achieved little since, though, and is easy to ignore.

Keegan Bradley
The 2011 USPGA champion finished third when defending his title. His form has picked up in the last two months, but he has never made a cut at Quail Hollow.

Jamie Broce
PGA Pro National qualifier. The USPGA field is essentially 136 for outright betting purposes.

Scott Brown
The alternate sneaked into the field when David Toms elected not to play. The 2013 Puerto Rico Open is Brown's only US Tour title. Almost certainly not Major-winning class.

Wesley Bryan
The 27-year-old made his US Tour breakthrough in April at the Heritage. He won three times on the Web.com Tour last season. USPGA debut.

Rafael Cabrera-Bello
The Spaniard won his third European Tour title last month at the Scottish Open, then tied for fourth in the Open. Made his Ryder Cup debut last year, but has never bettered 17th place in a Stateside Major. Was tailed off at Firestone last week.

Patrick Cantlay
The 25-year-old Californian is bursting with potential and has made an excellent return to the US Tour after injury. An overdue USPGA debut for a man who has finished 47th or better in all three of his previous Major spins, all of which were as an amateur.

Paul Casey
The former world number three turned 40 last month but is still waiting for his Major breakthrough. Has won only once on the US Tour (2009 Houston Open) and made no impact at Quail Hollow.

Bud Cauley
The 27-year-old Floridian is full of ball-striking talent and has been contending for a maiden US Tour title this season. He missed the cut in his only previous USPGA start and has never bettered 63rd place in a Stateside Major.

Kevin Chappell
The regular nearly-man finally claimed a US Tour title in April at the Texas Open. The 31-year-old Californian is full of long-game ability and has proved himself on Major courses. Should go well on a track which suits.

Paul Claxton
A 49-year-old club pro who came through the qualifier. The former tour pro is playing in his third Major, having finished 23rd in the 2005 US Open.

Nicolas Colsaerts
The Belgian bomber is winless since 2012 and has missed four of his last five cuts in Majors.

John Daly
The Wild Thing, USPGA champion in 1991, is a 51-year-old living life for enjoyment rather than titles.

Jason Day
The Australian started the year as world number one but has performed well below his usual standard. Can boast four-year USPGA form of 8-15-1-2, but his self-belief appears to have disappeared. Has Quail Hollow form of 22-9.

Stuart Deane
The 44-year-old Australian coaches golf in Texas. PGA Pro National qualifier.

Bryson DeChambeau
The eccentric 23-year-old Californian won his maiden US Tour title in gutsy fashion at the John Deere Classic last month. Making his USPGA debut. Missed the cut by two shots on his only Quail Hollow start.

Graham DeLaet
The Canadian remains a US Tour maiden at 35. He has never posted a top-ten finish in a Major and finished 77th in his only Quail Hollow start.

Matt Dobyns
The club pro has twice won the PGA Pro National before missing the cut in the USPGA, underlining the irrelevance of the Twix-sellers in this grade.

Luke Donald
The former world number one is in danger of slipping outside of the top 100. Has a poor Quail Hollow record. A Major maiden who is easy to dismiss.

Jason Dufner
The 2013 USPGA champ won his fifth US Tour title in June, overcoming putting woes for Memorial glory aged 40. Has not played at Quail Hollow since missing the cut there in 2010.

Ernie Els
The Big Easy has bags of experience at the age of 47, as well as four Major titles, but his game has disappeared and he is outside the top 400 in the world rankings.

Tony Finau
The giant from Utah has finished in the top 30 in four of his six Majors and has the long-game quality to handle tough, long layouts such as Quail Hollow. He is playing well and has Quail results of 16-28 from two visits. Looks a danger if he can find some putting form.

Ross Fisher
The Englishman is winless since March 2014, and has paid the price for a lack of attacking intent when in final-round contention over the last year. Tied for tenth in his last Quail Hollow start in 2013. A great driver, but an unappealing US Tour maiden.

Matt Fitzpatrick
The little master has quickly claimed three European Tour titles at the age of 22, but has been struggling for consistency this season. Others are much preferred on a long layout at which he has never competed.

Tommy Fleetwood
The Southport star was the home hero at the Open last month, but took too long to find top gear and tied for 27th. A world-class ball-striker who has won twice on the European Tour this season and finished fourth in the US Open. Missed the cut in both previous USPGA starts and is making his Quail Hollow debut.

Rickie Fowler
The Californian has made the each-way places in a Major five times from 2014 onwards. Seeking his breakthrough aged 28. Has been consistent this season, but won only once. Quail Hollow was the scene of his maiden US Tour title in 2012 and he was fourth there last year. Warmed up with a seven-under-par Firestone weekend.

Ryan Fox
The New Zealander enjoyed a burst of summer form (sixth in France, fourth in Ireland, fourth in Scotland) to fully establish himself on the European Tour. Lacks experience in elite company, though, and is making his USPGA debut.

Dylan Frittelli
The South African made his European Tour breakthrough at the Lyoness Open in June. Made his Major debut at the Open last month and missed the cut.

Jim Furyk
The United States Ryder Cup captain has lost his form as a player. Short off the tee and a fading force on the US Tour.

Sergio Garcia
The Masters champion flopped at the Open, picking up a shoulder injury along the way, then got married in Texas. Does not look at full throttle. Second at Quail Hollow in 2005.

Greg Gregory
The son of some unimaginative parents is one of the no-hopers to qualify from the PGA Pro National Championship.

Lucas Glover
The 2009 US Open champion is a Carolina man who won the 2011 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow. He has played some decent golf this term, finishing seventh at Bay Hill and sixth at Sawgrass, and is worth considering at big prices.

Branden Grace
The South African ace carded the lowest round in Major history in the Open at Birkdale last month, a Saturday 62, before finishing tied for sixth. He has been third and fourth in the last two USPGAs. He must be respected but is making his Quail Hollow debut.

Cody Gribble
The 26-year-old made his US Tour breakthrough in October's Sanderson Farms Championship, but has been abysmal since, missing 14 cuts. USPGA debut.

Emiliano Grillo
The sweet-swinging Argentinian tied for 13th in the USPGA last year and appeared to be developing nicely into a Major champion. Has played poorly this season, though, and has lost confidence.

Bill Haas
The 2011 FedEx Cup champion was born in Charlotte and knows Quail Hollow well. He has twice finished fourth there on the US Tour (2006, 2011). Tied for fifth place in the US Open in June and looks a potential title contender this week.

Adam Hadwin
The 29-year-old has taken over as Canadian number one. He won his maiden US Tour title in March before his form dipped sharply. Fifth place at Firestone on Sunday was a timely confidence boost for his USPGA debut.

James Hahn
The most recent Quail Hollow champion. The 35-year-old is in solid form, but has never bettered 49th place in a Major.

Jaysen Hansen
USPGA debut for the club pro. This keen kayaker should have a free weekend to cruise the water.

Brian Harman
The little left-hander won the Wells Fargo Championship in May at Eagle Point GC, which was standing in for Quail Hollow. He tied for second in the US Open, but has made only three cuts in nine Major starts.

Padraig Harrington
The Irishman tied for fourth place in the Scottish Open last month, showcasing some interesting new footwork in his swing, but missed the cut in the Open and Barracuda Championship. The 2008 USPGA champion can be overlooked.

Tyrrell Hatton
The Wycombe lad missed five cuts in a row before a humdrum effort at Firestone last week. Solid USPGA form of 25-10, but difficult to fancy this time.

Scott Hebert
The club pro has qualified for a fifth USPGA start. Missed the cut in his previous four.

Scott Hend
The 43-year-old Australian powerhouse has never bettered 32nd place in a Major and seems uncomfortable in elite company.

Russell Henley
The putting wizard played poorly at Firestone last week and will probably struggle on another stiff tee-to-green test at Quail Hollow.

Jim Herman
The Ohio-born journeyman was 13th in the 2015 Wells Fargo, but looks a long way from Major-winning class.

Charley Hoffman
The 40-year-old Californian has finished second and third on the US Tour in the last two weeks, and is playing the best golf of his career. He has started to perform in Majors, too, but has a terrible USPGA record (seven missed cuts from eight starts).

JB Holmes
The Kentucky slugger has been quiet since fading from the front in the Players Championship in May. He was Quail Hollow champion in 2014.

Billy Horschel
The Floridian got back to winning ways at the AT&T Byron Nelson in May. Has been inconsistent since and played appallingly at Firestone last week. Tied for 33rd on his only Quail Hollow spin.

Charles Howell
The regular bridesmaid lost a playoff for the Quicken Loans National last month. Winless for more than a decade on the US Tour and his only Major top-ten finish came in the 2003 USPGA.

Mackenzie Hughes
The 26-year-old Canadian won his maiden US Tour title at the RSM Classic in November. Looks a long way from world class and has never made the cut in a Major.
