Match preview

Brazil and Peru both came through pulsating and controversial Copa America quarter-finals to reach the final four of the competition. The two sides have already met in the group stages, with Brazil running out comfortable 4-0 winners.

The Selecao will be without Gabriel Jesus however, after he was sent off for a high boot in their quarter-final against Chile. Brazil managed to grind out a 1-0 win despite playing with ten men for forty minutes and should have too much for this Peru side.

Ricardo Gareca’s men beat Paraguay on penalties after an end-to-end 3-3 draw which saw both sides have a man sent off. Their defensive record doesn’t give confidence that they will be able to withstand the efforts of Neymar, Roberto Firmino and co.

However, they did look dangerous going forward throughout their game against Paraguay, with Gianluca Lapadula in particular a nuisance to the oppositions’ backline.

As a result, it may be worth siding with the goals to flow in this semi-final, especially with Brazil having proven with their group stage result that they should be too strong for this Peruvian defence.
