Semi-final preview

Colombia have limped into the semi-finals of the Copa America and a semi-final clash with Argentina in Brasilia looks likely to be the end of the road.

Los Cafeteros will have been upbeat after an opening win against Ecuador but a draw with Venezuela and defeats to Peru and Brazil were underwhelming, which made their quarter-final penalty-shootout win over Uruguay a bit of a surprise.

It is difficult to get excited about their chances of beating Argentina as they seem to have so little up front.

A tally of three goals in five matches does not inspire much confidence.

The same cannot be said of their opponents, who are looking for their first Copa success since 1993.

Lionel Messi has scored four goals already as they drew with Chile before posting group wins over Uruguay, Paraguay and Bolivia, and they eased past Ecuador 3-0 in the last eight.

Barcelona new boy Sergio Aguero has started the last two games up front and Inter's Lautaro Martinez has been on target in his last couple of outings, so it looks as if Yerri Mina and Davinson Sanchez could be in for a difficult night at the heart of the Colombian defence.
