The second round of Champions League qualifying start this week with League of Ireland champions Shamrock and NIFL Premiership winners Linfield still in the mix after overcoming Hibernians and The New Saints.

Both have unenviable ties in the second round, however, with Europa League regulars Ludogorets standing in the way of Shamrock, while Linfield face last season’s Conference League quarter-finalists, Bodo/Glimt.

But one side who could cause a second-round stir are Qarabag, who look a good bet to beat FC Zurich.

The Azerbaijani champions missed out on Champions League qualifying for the first time in seven years last season but seem determined to make amends.

Brazilian attacking midfielder Kady scored five goals in the Europa Conference League last term and was back at it last week, netting twice as Qarabag managed to overturn a 1-0 first-leg deficit and the concession of a first-minute second-leg goal to overcome Polish side Lech Poznan.

And Gurban Gurbanov’s men did it in style, smashing five goals in reply to run out 5-2 winners.

The Azerbaijani side are a serious proposition in Baku, having lost only to Marseille in their last 31 home games, and could upset Zurich, who lost their Swiss Super League opener 4-0 to Young Boys last weekend.

Pyunik FC are also worth backing on home soil at 11-10 when they host F91 Dudelange.

The Armenians pulled off an impressive shock in the first qualifying round by beating Romanian champions CFR Cluj on penalties and face a Dudelange side who were thrashed 4-0 by League of Ireland outfit Bohemians in Europa Conference League qualifying last term.
