Expect home comforts for Hannover

Hannover must lift themselves after the bitter disappointment of their German Cup exit last Wednesday but their main aim of the season was to gain immediate promotion back to the Bundesliga and they should get back on track at home to Bochum.

A last-gasp Salif Sane penalty miss saw Hannover tumble out of the cup at the hands of Eintracht Frankfurt but the fact the second-tier side managed to push the Bundesliga high-flyers so close shows the talent available in the squad.

That was not evident in their last Bundesliga 2 game – a woeful 4-1 hammering at Greuther Furth – when just about everything went wrong for Daniel Stendel's side, although they are still in the thick of a thrilling race for the two automatic promotion slots.

Bochum are not involved in that particular battle and could be outclassed by a Hannover side who have won seven of their nine home league games this term.

Martin Harnick, an attacking midfielder with eight goals in 16 league appearances this season, is too good for most defences at this level and Bochum have managed to keep only one clean sheet in 20 attempts in 2016-17.

Hannover averaged the most shots on target and the most shots in the division going into this round of fixtures and that attacking prowess should help them land the odds.
