Werder Bremen v Dusseldorf
BT Sport Extra 2, 7.30pm Friday

Werder Bremen occupy a mid-table berth in the Bundesliga and are expected to justify odds-on quotes to defeat struggling Fortuna Dusseldorf at the Weserstadion.

Despite winning only five of their 13 matches, the hosts have scored in every game this season but they have struggled defensively, conceding more goals than any team in the top half of the Bundesliga.

On league position alone, Werder are the likely winners, but Fortuna have showed signs of life in recent weeks and may cause a few problems for the favourites.

The visitors may not have the ability to take full advantage but Friedhelm Funkel's struggling team beat Hertha Berlin 4-1 prior to the international break and drew 3-3 with Bayern Munich immediately after it.

They scored all four against Hertha after Maximilian Mittelstadt was sent off but that should not detract from an excellent performance which points to them at least troubling Werder.

However, Fortuna have picked up just three of their nine points on the road and only Nuremberg have conceded more goals in the Bundesliga this season.

Both teams to score is short enough at 11-20, so backing Werder to win with both teams getting in on the act looks a better-value option.

Recommendation
Werder Bremen to win & both teams to score
