Australia bounced back from their defeat to India with a 41-run victory over Pakistan in Taunton and Aaron Finch’s side are 100-30 to win the World Cup.

David Warner’s century gave Australia a solid platform but they faltered late in the innings, collapsing from 277-4 to be bowled out for 307.

Pakistan lost regular wickets in their run-chase and hit 16-1 in-play when they were reduced to 160-6.

Some powerful lower-order hitting from Hasan Ali (32 off 15 balls) and Wahab Riaz (45 off 39) saw their odds collapse to 5-2 but Australia’s fast bowlers closed out the game in ruthless fashion.

Imam-ul-Haq, a 4-1 chance, top-scored for Pakistan with 53 and Pat Cummins, advised at 3-1 by Racing Post Sport’s Max Oram, was Australia’s top wicket-taker with 3-33 from his ten overs.

Cummins and teammate Mitchell Starc are level on nine wickets for the tournament but the Australian pair are one behind Pakistan's Mohammad Amir, who took 5-30 in the Taunton defeat.

Warner is 4-7 to be Australia’s leading runscorer in the tournament and Pakistan are out to 33-1 to win the trophy.

England are 2-1 favourites for the World Cup from 5-2 chances India, who face 9-1 New Zealand at Trent Bridge on Thursday.
