England fulfilled the second part of their must-win double act by overcoming New Zealand by 119 runs on Wednesday to ensure their place in the semi-finals.

After Sunday's crucial win over India, England batted first at the Riverside and reached 123 before the loss of the first wicket. A slight wobble followed but Johnny Bairstow's century helped them reach 305-8 and they were 1-3 for victory at the halfway stage.

The Kiwis' openers were quickly removed and at 14-2 New Zealand were already facing a huge battle. They fell for 186 in 45 overs and with their progress ensured, England were promptly cut to 15-8 to lift the trophy.

If Australia and India win their final games on Saturday - both are odds-on for victory - England will play India in the last four.

World Cup winner- best odds: 15-8 England, 2 Australia, 5-2 India, 9 New Zealand.
