Sri Lanka are 100-1 to qualify for the World Cup semi-finals after their nine-wicket loss to eliminated South Africa at the Riverside.

The Proteas, who had lost five of their previous six completed matches at the tournament, rewarded the faith of punters who backed them at 1-2 with a comprehensive victory.

It was another poor batting performance from Sri Lanka and opener Kusal Perera and number three Avishka Fernando dead-heated for top runscorer with just 30 as the Lankans were bowled out for 203.

South Africa skipper Faf du Plessis finished unbeaten on 96 with Hashim Amla 80 not out as the Proteas – fourth in the ante-post betting at 9-1 – claimed only their second win of the World Cup.

Pakistan are 1-6 to leapfrog England into fourth place with a win over Afghanistan and Sarfaraz Ahmed’s men are 6-5 to reach the semi-finals.

England, who take on India at Edgbaston on Sunday, are evens to reach the last four and 9-2 to win the trophy.

India and Australia are 2-1 joint-favourites to triumph at the tournament.
