Carabao Cup final: Chelsea v Man City special betting markets preview and tip
Blues battler Jorginho's lack of confidence set to show in card at Wembley
Chelsea may have to summon the spirit of Crystal Palace if they are to land an upset against Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final.
Palace were beaten 9-0 by Liverpool in the 1989-90 season but it was the Eagles who had the last laugh, famously turning the tables on the mighty Reds in the FA Cup semi-final.
However, there was more than six months between the games rather than just the couple of weeks Chelsea have had to recover from the
6-0 thumping at City.
Palace also changed their formation for the revenge mission - something that almost certainly won't be the case for Chelsea with Blues boss Maurizio Sarri stubbornly sticking to his plans.
Sarri would rather get the sack than send out a team that doesn't fit his ideology so that means Jorginho playing as the deep-sitting midfielder with N'Golo Kante shifted wider.
Jorginho was the heartbeat of Sarri's wonderful Napoli team, but the Brazilian-born Italian international seems to have suffered a crisis in confidence ever since he was man-marked by Everton in a 0-0 draw back in early November.
He was lucky not to be sent-off for a filthy challenge which produced only a yellow card. In the following game Tottenham's Dele Alli did a similar shutdown job when Jorginho was once again booked.
Jorginho has been booked six times in his last 18 starts for Chelsea and that includes a couple of matches against Spurs and in both outings against City.
No player in the Chelsea team has more bookings than his five in the Premier League and only the full-backs average more tackles.
Given how much creative midfield talent City bring to the table and their ability to press Chelsea into submission this could be a game where Jorginho has too much going on around him and odds of 11-4 for him to attract the attention of referee Craig Pawson seems fair.
Recommendation
Jorginho to be carded
