Australia made it four wins out of five at the World Cup with an 87-run victory over Sri Lanka at The Oval and the Aussies are 3-1 to win the trophy.

Skipper Aaron Finch laid the foundations for the win, scoring 153 off 132 balls as Australia set the Lankans a target of 335.

Sri Lanka had traded at 18-1 during Australia’s innings but they hit evens in-play during their run-chase as Dimuth Karunaratne (97) and Kusal Perera (52) got them off to a flying start.

However, Australia’s pacemen hit back with Mitchell Starc claiming 4-55 in a win that puts Finch’s men top of the table.

Finch leads the way in the race to be top tournament runscorer and Starc, joint-top wicket-taker at the 2015 World Cup, is the most successful bowler at this tournament with 13 scalps.

England are 15-8 favourites for the tournament with India 5-2 and New Zealand 8-1. It’s 25-1 bar the front four in the market.

Afghanistan were bowled out for 125 by South Africa in the second game of the day in Cardiff, where Imran Tahir took four wickets.

The Afghans’ next assignment is Tuesday’s fixture against England at Old Trafford and they are 12-1 to shock the 1-16 favourites in Manchester.

England have injury concerns over captain Eoin Morgan (back spasms) and opening batsman Jason Roy (hamstring), both of whom were injured while fielding in Friday’s eight-wicket win victory over the West Indies.
