A gladiatorial contest between the two teams at the head of the NFC betting looks set to be served up at Lambeau Field and visitors Seattle should at least be competitive.

Aaron Rodgers is a star at quarterback but it is a gamble to rely on a converted wide receiver Ty Montgomery as the focus of their rushing attack.

NFL season preview

The Packers have won on each of the last five occasions they have played at home to Seattle, but the Seahawks could be better suited to making a push for the Super Bowl this season.

It is a concern that they have failed to make many changes to an offensive line that put quarterback Russell Wilson under too much pressure on occasions last season.

But they are still an elite defensive outfit - they should be stronger than they were in December when star safety Earl Thomas was missing with a broken leg - and they have been boosted in the front seven by the acquisition of Sheldon Richardson from the Jets.

They were tied for third with 42 sacks last season and can be relied upon to put plenty of pressure on Rodgers, so if the secondary are able to keep new Packers tight end Martellus Bennett in check, they can keep this one close
