Chased clear leader 2f, raced in 3rd after, just pushed along from 2f out, kept on but never challenged (jockey said regarding running and riding he broke well from the stalls, and sat in third position before losing its position up the home straight to finish fifth beaten 3 and 3/4 lengths. They interviewed the rider and the trainer’s representative. They also received a report from the Veterinary Officer who stated that the gelding suffered lacerations to, and was lame on, its left hind. The rider stated that his instructions were to pop out, get the gelding covered and settled and make his best way home. He added that the gelding had jumped out very well, which resulted in it running freely in third place without cover, but started lugging right up the straight before appearing to run on again. The trainer’s representative confirmed the instructions and said he was satisfied that the ride given accorded with those instructions.) (op 10/1)

The trainer confirmed those were his instructions and added that as the gelding was hanging the jockey was unable to carry out his instructions fully.) (op 20/1)
