It's the first day of the Ebor festival at York and the show is set to kick off with a bang as the feature Juddmonte International (3.35) boasts a star-studded line-up.

Crystal Ocean bids to bounce back from his neck defeat to Enable, but faces stiff competition in the form of John Gosden's King Of Comedy and Aidan O'Brien pair Japan and Circus Maximus.

There's plenty of racing away from Yorkshire too with Bath, Carlisle and Killarney also hosting afternoon meetings, while Worcester and Kempton continue the action into the night.

Going report

Bath (first race: 1.45)
Good, good to firm in places

York (1.55)
Good

Carlisle (2.05)
Soft, good to soft in places

Killarney (2.10)
Yielding, good to yielding in places (jumps), soft (Flat)

Worcester (5.00)
Good, good to firm in places

Kempton (5.45)
Standard to slow

Final thought

Although the step up in trip is a concern, it is surprising to see Lord Glitters available at such a big price for the Juddmonte International. The David O'Meara-trained six-year-old won the Queen Anne at Royal Ascot just two months ago and landed the Strensall Stakes at last year's meeting.
