Greg Fairley, who was warned off for 12 years in 2011 for stopping horses running on their merits and passing on information for reward, will be able to return to work in racing in December having successfully applied for dispensation from parts of his disqualification.

Fairley, 33, could become a part-time work rider for Borders trainer Sandy Thomson, who employs Fairley’s father Andrew in the same role.

The panel adjudicating the case deemed the former champion apprentice should not return until ten years of his ban had elapsed.
