The Height Of Fashion Stakes has gone a little out of fashion as an Investec Oaks trial, with Snow Fairy the last filly to do the double in 2010.

The previous two winners of the race bypassed the Oaks altogether, and that trend looks set to continue with none of the nine runners holding an entry at Epsom next week.

There were 16 days between Snow Fairy's win at Goodwood and her Epsom triumph, but the races are just eight days apart this year.

However, the contest still throws up quality types and John Gosden, who has the Oaks favourite Mehdaayih as part of his Classic team, has two chances of winning the race for the first time since Michita in 2008.

The form of Ascot conditions stakes winner Muchly was boosted on Saturday when runner-up Queen Power went one better in a Listed race at Newbury.

Gosden's other contender, Shambolic, finished second to leading Oaks hope Maqsad in the Pretty Polly at Newmarket and will be ridden by Frankie Dettori.

"Muchly made all to win at Ascot and we're hopeful of her getting the trip and earning some black type," said the trainer. "The same applies to Shambolic who ran into a good one in the shape of Maqsad at Newmarket first time out."

Ralph Beckett pitches Aloe Vera, a half-sister to the stable's Group 2 winner Alyssa, into Listed company on just her second start.

"We're throwing her in at the deep end but she did it well at Chepstow and we think she has improved for her debut," said Beckett. "She's in good shape and we think she'll act around Goodwood."

Grace And Danger, who finished fourth behind Mehdaayih in the Cheshire Oaks, is among those with an entry in next month's Ribblesdale Stakes at Royal Ascot.

"I thought she ran well in a strong trial and it was her first run of the year," said trainer Andrew Balding. "She will have quicker ground to contend with and we will learn plenty from it. She has got an entry [in the Ribblesdale] but she needs to be winning here to justify that."
