Going news and punting pointers after Fairyhouse and Doncaster pass inspections

It would be fair to say that fields sizes aren't generally bursting with quantity for the final day of Cheltenham's International meeting, but there are some quality runners on show.

The Ryman Novices' Chase (12.45) is an interesting affair with the likes of Jenkins, Le Breuil and Ok Corral each showing smart form as novice hurdlers and retaining great potential in this sphere.

The Caspian Caviar Gold Cup (1.55) follows. Last year's hero Guitar Pete bids to retain the prize and Baron Alco and Frodon, who filled the first two places in the BetVictor Gold Cup last month, are also among the leading contenders.

However, it is the International Hurdle (3.05) which looks as wide open a Grade 2 hurdle as you could wish to see. This year's Supreme Novices' Hurdle victor Summerville Boy would have a golden chance providing he can bounce back from a disappointing reappearance in the Fighting Fifth.

Other jump racing takes place at Doncaster, Hereford and Fairyhouse, whereas Newcastle and Wolverhampton are the places to go for all-weather action.

Final thought

Few horses are more frustrating than the Gordon Elliott-trained Campeador. He has fallen in four of his seven starts for the master trainer but clearly has an engine and bids for a first win over fences in the opening 2m beginners chase (12.05) at Fairyhouse.
