Murtagh so classy aboard Orient to land his biggest win yet

Teenager Connor Murtagh rode the biggest winner of his burgeoning career as Orient Class took the £40,000 William Hill Tartan Trophy, the consolation race for the feature Scottish Sprint Cup.

The 7lb claimer made it look easy on the Paul Midgley-trained six-year-old, adopting a prominent position close to the nearside rail behind the pacesetter Tylery Wonder, also trained by Midgley, before hitting the front over a furlong out to win by a length and a quarter.

When asked how he felt after a big Saturday winner, his eighth in total, 17-year-old Murtagh replied: "Unbelievable. He winged the gates and got himself into a lovely position, and Mr Midgley's had him in brilliant form for today.
