'We've never had eight winners in a day' - William Haggas team in rampant form
Fantastic four-timer for Adam Farragher on first visit to the Roodee
Jockey Adam Farragher enjoyed a sensational first visit to the Roodee by racking up four winners from his five rides on the day.
It was a first four-timer for the 21-year-old, with three of his victories coming for his boss William Haggas, who was in unstoppable form himself, ending the day with eight winners at five different meetings including Group 2 success with Dubai Honour in the Prix Dollar at Longchamp.
The Farragher-Haggas partnership started as they meant to go on by landing the first race when Mayaas struck in the 7½f apprentice handicap.
Farragher, who is enjoying a 47 per cent strike-rate over the past two weeks, then won the 7½f fillies' handicap on short-priced favourite Flying West for trainer James Fanshawe.
Farragher then made all in the 1m2½f novice to score by 15 lengths on Haggas's promising three-year-old Gaassee to claim his third winner, before the pair combined to land the closing 1m2½f handicap with Skytree, who battled to a neck victory over Two Brothers.
"It's been a super day, it's really lovely," said Haggas. "I'd say the highlight would be Dubai Honour in the Group 2 at Longchamp, but we had a nice two-year-old win at Newmarket [Al Mubhir] and of course Adam's had four winners at Chester, which is terrific.
"It's been a marvellous day. The horses look well and are racing well. We've never had eight winners in a day before, so full marks to everyone."
