Punting pointers as improving Documenting tackles valuable Mile contest

Sun Racing All-Weather Mile Championships Conditions Stakes | 1m | 4yo+ | ITV/ SKY

Can Doyle strike again with 'thriving' Documenting?

James Doyle won this contest with Captain Cat in 2014 and was second last year with Second Thought. He looks to extend his fine record in the race aboard the Kevin Frost-trained Documenting.

The six-year-old has enjoyed a great campaign this winter, winning twice including a seven-length demolition in a decent handicap at Wolverhampton on his penultimate start. He was a respectable fifth last time and has a bold chance once again.

Frost said: "The horse is thriving and he seems to be improving, getting stronger and more grown up. He missed two years of his life but is playing catch up now. We've got a good jockey and a great draw. He's won at the track before too, and if there is a good pace then that will suit him as well."

Confidence high in Hannon camp

Richard Hannon believes Oh This Is Us could prove "very hard to beat" as his experienced performer goes for a 12th career win.

The six-year-old won at this venue in February before a disappointing effort when beating just one runner at Wolverhampton. A return to Lingfield is sure to suit for the son of Acclamation.

Hannon said: "He won here two starts back and looked to take a liking to the track. He went back to Wolverhampton in between and for some reason doesn’t handle that surface.

"If he can bounce back from that run, and he gets a clear run through, he should be very hard to beat."

Keyser Soze looks to continue red hot form

Rebel Racing's Keyser Soze has enjoyed an exceptional all-weather campaign and comes to Lingfield seeking a fourth consecutive victory.

The five-year-old scored twice at this venue before completing a hat-trick at Newcastle.

Trainer Richard Spencer said: "He has had a good season for us. It is a tougher race with higher rated rivals off level weights but hopefully he can run well."

Of his entry in the Group 1 Lockinge Stakes, May 18, Spencer added: "At this stage the Lockinge is just an option and we aren't sure if we're going with him. We haven't planned anywhere yet."

What they said

Tom Dascombe, trainer of Arcanada
He has two ways of running – bloody brilliant or bloody awful! I hope he's on a brilliant day but he tells you nothing. Having said that, he's well drawn and has some good form around Lingfield so we'll have to see which Arcanada turns up. On his best from he has a right chance.

Richard Hughes, trainer of Glendevon
He's doing well and we think he's got every chance. There are a few rated above him but my only concern is I don't know if he's a better horse going left or right-handed – I'd prefer running him at Kempton – but in a £150,000 race I don't mind finding out.

Andrew Balding, trainer of Straight Right
He's a talented horse. With his running style he's going to need a bit of luck but he seems in great shape and I hope he can go well.
