Gold Cup talk will not just be confined to Punchestown on Wednesday as Stradivarius – the star of the Royal Ascot showpiece for the last three years – starts out on his history trail when the Flat season breaks out in Berkshire.
At the age of seven, Stradivarius, who contests the , has a following right up there with some of jumping's finest and much of that popularity is down to his courageous and dazzling displays in the Gold Cup, one of the most prestigious races in the calendar.
