Although rather less studied than Saturday's Eclipse, the Falmouth Stakes has long been an informative early meeting between three-year-olds and older horses.

It is less studied partly because it is more selective. The Falmouth is sex-restricted, of course, but is also over a mile which is less of an inclusive distance than the Eclipse's ten furlongs.
