A fortnight on Tuesday the cork will be popped and it is not too late to join the party.

Zarkandar arrived in the Adonis as a nobody in 2011. He soon became a somebody. That 8-1 victory under Daryl Jacob was the beginning of a brilliant career. The following month he took the Triumph Hurdle and went on to win ten of his 32 starts over hurdles.

We thought we had spotted another Zarkandar 12 months ago. Solo rocked up with a big reputation from France and duly dispatched his eight rivals by 13 widening lengths at the line. He was slashed into 3-1 favourite with some firms for the Triumph afterwards, but could only finish eighth and has not won since.
