There have been some special milers in recent history and the division has often been dominated by one superstar. Frankel is the most famous, but let’s not forget Goldikova, Rock Of Gibraltar and Kingman, who have all reigned supreme since the turn of the century.
However, it is a long time since Kingman was strutting his stuff in 2014 and in the intervening years there hasn't been a true star. In fact, only one horse since Kingman in the 2014 St James’s Palace Stakes has bettered a Racing Post Rating of 126 over a mile in Britain and that was Mohaather, who achieved 127 for last year’s Sussex Stakes win and never ran again.
