Gordon hoping King will allow him to reign again at Plumpton
Stobart And PJA Supporting Jockeys Handicap Hurdle | 2m4½f | ATR
Chris Gordon proved unbeatable the last time he saddled runners here and he is full of hope that will be the case once again.
Gordon won with all three of his runners here a fortnight ago on a memorable afternoon when the trainer was also two from two at Stratford.
However, the mud was flying when his King Uther got up in the last 75 yards to win at Lingfield three weeks ago and Gordon admits to fears that the drying ground will not be in his favour.
Not enough room for them all
Small fields have been an issue over jumps of late but this £16,000 contest was over-subscribed, with 15 horses declared for a race that has a safety limit of just 14.
Moore reasons to consider Mr Fickle
Gary Moore won this race with Sircozy in 2012 and Auld Sthock in 2014. He bids to make it three wins in the last five runnings with Mr Fickle today.
What they say
Jackie du Plessis, trainer of Winning Spark
He's run well this season. He's usually ridden by James Best but because of the weight he has to carry we're claiming 7lb with Hannah Welch, who has sat on him at home. He was second at Plumpton twice before we had him, so the track should be fine.
Fergal O'Brien, trainer of Iora Glas
He's had the winter off as he doesn't handle heavy ground and this is the start of a summer campaign for him. The ground will be fine but the trip is a little sharp.
Noel Williams, trainer of Authorized Too
He lost his way a little bit but seemed to get back on track at Towcester last time and is in good form. His best form has been over two miles but everyone who has ridden him tells me to try two and a half.
Alan King, trainer of Awesome Rosie
She should run all right. She's been consistent all season and the slightly better ground should help her.
Neil King, trainer of Holbrook Park
When a course like Plumpton puts on a £16,000 race for horses rated 0-125 you try to target it. He ran well there up to a point last time and this has been the aim since. We're putting a tonguestrap on and we hope he'll run a good race.
Roger Teal, trainer of Agincourt Reef
He gets in without a penalty for his win over fences and we've had this race in mind for him. Harry [Teal, jockey] gets on well with him and the drying ground will help them.
Chris Gordon, trainer of King Uther
He won last time but this is the fastest ground he's ever encountered and I'm a wee bit worried it will happen too quick for him over two and a half miles.
