A five-month trial is under way. The evidence will come thick and fast and the verdict will come in four hectic days at Cheltenham in the spring. Fancy being a juror?

It is an equine whodunnit, or rather who-will-do-it. Rationally assessing countless winners through autumn and winter, judging whether or not they will get the decision at the festival next March.

And the first meeting of the season at Cheltenham is just the stuff for a budding Judge Rinder to get stuck into, with seven winners successfully returning to the scene of their crime just over 20 weeks later in the past decade.
