The 2016 Windsor Castle Stakes is not likely to go down in history. Winner Ardad took the Flying Childers subsequently and has made a brisk start as a stallion with his first crop this year, but it never got any better for those immediately behind him.
The greatest gift the race offered came in the preliminaries. A maiden winner named Battaash reared and jumped in the stalls, blowing his chance. Within ten days he had been gelded.
