One trainer, one jockey, one horse and one race to watch on Saturday

Trainer

There is no escaping William Haggas' incredible run of form in August, given his 32 per cent strike-rate, and he bids for another lucrative weekend before York's Ebor meeting, with his four runners on the day all having solid claims.

The standout is Tiber Flow in the Hungerford Stakes (3.35) at Newbury, who bids to bounce back from his defeat in the Commonwealth Cup last time. Haggas is also represented at the Berkshire track by Frantanck in the 1m2f handicap (1.20).

At Newmarket, Canterbury Bell bids to return to winning ways in the 1m2f handicap (5.00), while his final runner of the day is Punda Maria at Wolverhampton (8.20).

Jockey

Hollie Doyle enjoyed Pattern success earlier in the week at Salisbury and could be in line for more big-race wins with a strong book of rides at Newbury.

Doyle, who won the Sovereign Stakes aboard Tempus on Thursday, rides for the same connections on useful international performer Outbox in the Geoffrey Freer Stakes (2.30), who faces a tough task against Zechariah.

Her other Group-race mount comes aboard the likeable Happy Romance in the Hungerford Stakes (3.35), while she also rides Crafty Lady in the 1m3f maiden (4.10) and Cite d'Or in the Denford Stakes (1.55).

Horse

Pepper Lane was the last horse to win successive runnings of the William Hill Great St Wilfrid Handicap (2.50) in 2011 and 2012, but that could change as last year's hero Justanotherbottle goes for another success.

The Kevin Ryan-trained eight-year-old thrives at Ripon and brings a perfect record at the Yorkshire track into the race, with three wins over course and distance.

He needs to bounce back from finishing 22nd in the Stewards' Cup last time, but he finished in that exact same position 12 months ago before winning the Great St Wilfrid. Could that be another good omen?

Race

It may not be the feature event on Newbury's card, but the BetVictor-backed Geoffrey Freer Stakes (2.30) could have potential ramifications for some of the top global staying contests later this season.

The market is headed by Queen's Vase Stakes second Zechariah, who needs to bounce back from a poor run in the Bahrain Trophy last time, but holds entries in the Lonsdale Cup, St Leger and Melbourne Cup.

Away He Goes also holds a Melbourne Cup entry – a race he was agonisingly ruled out of at the last minute last year – and bids to do better than his Goodwood Cup fifth previously, while Universal Order, Outbox and Silence Please are all classy performers on their day.
