One horse, one trainer, one jockey and one race to follow on Saturday

Trainer

Ed Bethell is enjoying a terrific first season since taking over the licence from his father James and while not stacked with quantity across Saturday's cards, he looks to be sending out quality instead with two well-fancied runners at Newmarket and Redcar.

Bethell saddles likely favourite Fearby in the highly valuable £150,000 Tattersalls October Auction Stakes (2.20), with Ryan Moore booked to ride the son of Havana Gold, who after winning a Listed race at Sandown in impressive fashion ran some storming races in defeat, including a close third in the Mill Reef Stakes last time.

Bethell's sole runner on Redcar's feature card of the year is Reel Rosie, a winner on her debut over course-and-distance in August and bidding to defy a penalty in division one of the 7f novice (1.50).

Jockey

Shane Foley enjoyed a dream September that included four successes on Irish Champions Weekend and partners up with one of his Group 1 winners from that memorable weekend when No Speak Alexander runs in the Sun Chariot Stakes at Newmarket (2.55).

Foley teamed up with the three-year-old for a 25-1 shock when winning the Matron Stakes at Leopardstown for trainer Jessica Harrington, who also provided the jockey with a Group 3 success on the Rowley Mile with Forbearance as part of a staggering 21 winners last month for Foley.

The jockey, who is returning from an eight-day suspension, also partners rank outsider Devaste in the Tattersalls October Auction Stakes (2.20) on the card.

Horse

1,000 Guineas heroine Mother Earth returns to the scene of her greatest triumph as she bids for a third Group 1 victory this season in the Sun Chariot Stakes (2.55) at Newmarket to stamp her claims as the leading three-year-old filly over a mile.

The daughter of Zoffany has been a model of consistency since her Classic triumph on the Rowley Mile in May, picking up a second top-level success in the Prix Rothschild at Deauville before running a luckless third in the Matron Stakes last time.

With winner No Speak Alexander set to reoppose, Falmouth Stakes winner Snow Lantern and Saffron Beach – second behind Mother Earth in the 1,000 Guineas – provide stern opposition in a high-class contest.

Race

Flat racing fans finally get what they were craving all season as the rematch between Trueshan and Stradivarius takes place in the Prix du Cadran (2.15) on a star-studded first day of the Arc meeting at Longchamp.

The pair have not met since Trueshan romped to victory in last year's Long Distance Cup at Ascot on Champions Day, with the initial second bout scuppered in the Ascot Gold Cup when the Alan King-trained stayer was pulled out due to the ground, before it was Stradivarius' turn to miss out on account of the going in the Goodwood Cup.

Trueshan has the aid of new jockey James Doyle due to Hollie Doyle serving a suspension while Stradivarius, who has landed the Lonsdale and Doncaster Cups this season, will be partnered by regular jockey Frankie Dettori.

However this is by no means a two-horse race, with last year's winner Princess Zoe back for more as well as 2018 hero Call The Wind, while Skazino looks a bright prospect following his Deauville Group 2 victory in August.
