Punters pile into Junius Brutus on Newmarket card hit by spate of non-runners

Newmarket: hosts the second day of its July festival
1 of 1

Junius Brutus has been heavily supported for the Each Way Extra At bet365 Handicap (12.45) on day two of Newmarket's July festival.

The four-year-old has been backed from 11-2 into 2-1 favouritism for the sprint, despite the fact he has not won since August 2018.

Newmarket's eight-race card has been hit by more than 20 non-runners, most of whom were withdrawn due to the soft ground.

On a wet day at the track, the going was changed after the sixth race on Thursday and the ground will remain testing after more overnight rain, although the forecast is for sunny spells.
