At the end of May senior figures from the racing and breeding industries of Britain, Ireland and France met at the BHA's headquarters in London to discuss an issue which could have a profound impact on the sport in Europe.

They were there to present the challenges but also possible solutions arising from the UK's decision to leave the European Union to the EU's Agriculture Commissioner Phil Hogan.

Maintaining the free movement of thoroughbreds within Europe along with common transport, health and welfare policies after Brexit are the industry’s major objectives, while any changes to the free movement of people from the EU will affect British racing's ability to staff itself.
