Arc hero Torquator Tasso out to 50-1 for title defence after tame comeback
Sunday: Baden-Baden, Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft
Last year's shock Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe hero Torquator Tasso was eased to as big as 50-1 for the defence of his crown later this year after disappointing on his comeback at Baden-Baden.
The Marcel Weiss-trained five-year-old, who stunned the racing world when landing the Arc at 80-1 last October, was favourite to make a winning return in the Group 2 Grosser Preis der Badischen Wirtschaft under regular rider Rene Piechulek.
However, he raced keenly towards the outside at the rear of the field and folded tamely when asked for an effort in the home straight to finish sixth of the seven runners, beaten over 17 lengths behind last year's German Derby second Alter Adler.

Having been as short as 14-1 for the Arc with bet365 before his return, he drifted to 50-1 with the same firm for successive Arc victories.
However, he had a similarly disappointing run in this race last year, when it was held at Mulheim, before bouncing back to win at Hamburg and taking the Grosser Preis von Baden last September.
He could be seen in Britain this year, with a tilt at Ascot's King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Stakes previously mentioned as a possible part of his roadmap back to Paris in October.
