The build-up
The RSA has always been viewed as a stepping stone towards the Gold Cup for the cream of staying novice chasers.
Bobs Worth, RSA winner in 2012, went on to land the following year’s Gold Cup, while 2017 hero Might Bite chased home Native River in chasing’s showpiece event 12 months later.
Santini, who finished second to Topofthegame in the RSA last year, was denied a neck by Al Boum Photo in the Gold Cup this year.
