Young riders proving their worth a highlight of the weekend's action

Despite a long delay to the start of racing at Loughanmore on Saturday it turned into a very enjoyable afternoon.

The outcome was a tribute to the enthusiasm of Northern Irish point-to-point supporters who were very patient as the organisers set about the business of getting a second road-ambulance for the meeting after an initial mix-up. A large crowd was able to enjoy good catering and bar facilities, everyone was good-humoured, and there was a happy atmosphere right through to the end of the day.

I was delighted to get off the mark for the season on Blue Flight for the local Wilson Dennison/Colin McKeever team in the four-year-old maiden.
