Dorking Cock was a surprise winner when taking the hunter chase at Down Royal on St Stephen’s Day at 22-1 and he made his much-awaited return to action for the first time since with victory in the feature Bective Stud open.

Sent off as a relatively easy-to-back favourite, the Stuart Crawford-trained eight-year-old set a good tempo in the early stages and coped well with the rain-softened conditions to beat the former Willie Mullins-trained Vis Ta Loi on his third start for Garristown handler Nick O’Reilly.
