It's doubtful Helen Bryce-Smith expected her record 109 victories by a female rider in the Irish pointing field to remain untouched for almost five decades.

The longevity of that record makes the achievement of Liz Lalor all the more meritorious as she raised the bar with her 110th victory between the flags at Comea on Sunday, almost 23 years after her first success in a Kinsale open in May 1999.

In the years since, Lalor also became just the third female rider to break the 100-winner barrier at Nenagh in 2019, with her subsequent wins taking her above Rosemary Rooney and now Bryce-Smith, while she also holds the record for the greatest number of ladies' titles successes, which stands at eight.
