The spirit of those within point-to-points can so often be tested during winter, no more so than last Sunday when extreme weather conditions provided the ultimate test to the weekend’s racing organisers.

With weather forecasters predicting 4-8cm of snow for so many parts of the country, all three of Sunday’s fixtures were forced to call 8am inspections in anticipation of the weather that was expected.

Unfortunately for the Louth Hunt, while their fixture at Tattersalls Farm may have avoided the worst of the snow, heavy overnight rain left the course waterlogged resulting in its cancellation.
