Ourmanmassini blitzes his rivals in authoritative style
With his boss Gordon Elliott winning the open contest at Maralin 24 hours earlier, Peter Flood was not to be outdone as he saddled the impressive Ourmanmassini to run out the wide-margin winner of the feature Savills open lightweight before an impressive 5,000 strong crowd at Dowth Hall on Sunday.
The eight-year-old had destroyed the opposition at Castletown-Geoghegan on the opening weekend of the season and, having then finished fourth on unsuitably soft ground at Loughanmore, the Dr Massini gelding bounced back to winning ways by coming home in a common canter with regular partner Anthony Fox aboard.
With his chief rival Abigail Lynch, a winner at Rathcannon a week earlier, exiting two fences from home, the bay gelding was left with the straightforward task of beating Grianan Fidh by 18 lengths.
