O’Sullivan maiden strike the weekend highlight for female riders

Maxine O’Sullivan gained her 54th victory between the flags on Sunday but it was notable for another reason – it was her first win in a four-year-old maiden.

She teamed up at Ballindenisk with father Eugene on Coqolino, owned by Thomas Singleton.

It was close to six years since a female rider last won a four-year-old maiden, the most recent to do so being Nina Carberry when she partnered Timmy Hyde’s Adam Du Breteau at Dromahane. Before that Katie Walsh won on her father Ted’s Foxrock at Loughrea in 2012.
