The arrival of former rules stars such as Black Hercules and Edwulf, Grade 1 winners who received their hunter certificates this season, in open lightweights will always generate plenty of debate.

These track recruits often fail to recapture the best of their form and there was another example of that with Vyta Du Roc at Tinahely.

A seven-time winner under rules, he joined Gordon Elliott over the summer having run in the Welsh National, Glenfarclas Chase and Bet365 Gold Cup on his last three starts for Nicky Henderson.
