Tallow For Coal pours on the power for Hannon as Storm Dennis wreaks havoc
Storm Dennis took its toll at Knockanard where there were just three races as the meeting was abandoned in the interests of safety due to torrential rain and gale-force winds. Just 18 runners braved the elements in the three races.
Despite only two contests taking place, James Hannon still managed to notch a double starting with the Mattie Collins-trained newcomer Tallow For Coal who came home as he pleased in the Coolagown Stud & Shinnicks Spar four-year-old maiden.
Tallow For Coal disputed the running with Lumpy Luna until edging ahead and increasing the pace from six out. The complexion of the race altered three out as Lumpy Luna fell, bringing down the pursuing Telhimlisten. Tallow For Coal was left with an unassailable advantage and returned a distance clear of the only other finisher What A Time.
