Denis Murphy made the perfect start to the season with two winners at Toomebridge, and landed the opening J Kernoghan Salvage four-year-old mares’ maiden with Gale At Sea.

The €16,000 half-sister to former pointer Ballybolley made a winning debut when beating Whiskey Lullaby by six lengths under Jamie Codd.

“This is a smart, well-bred mare,” said Murphy. “I was a little bit worried because she looked so well in the parade ring and that’s my first runner of the season. There should be lots of improvement and she will go to one of the sales.”
