Moira McElligott’s switch from the point-to-point circuit to the boxing ring is continuning to pay off.

McElligott, a regular in the saddle between the flags in recent seasons, reached the quarter-finals of the European Elite Women’s Championships in Sofia, Bulgaria.

The locum vet was a late recruit to the boxing game, but she has risen sharply through the ranks.
