Trainer-jockey Turlough O’Connor landed a double at the Duhallow meeting at Dromahane where there was some outstanding fare for the big crowd.

The opening leg of his double was Lady Shirocco in the first division of the four-year-old mares’ maiden.

After making a pleasing debut when sixth to Fresh Appeal at Boulta three weeks earlier, Lady Shirocco forged to the front after the last and then held on admirably to beat Esme Shelby by a short head.
